ConnectWise Automate alternative: pricing and feature comparison

ConnectWise Automate is a mature, deeply customizable RMM for power users. Nizlo is an earlier-stage, hosted alternative with a narrower surface and public flat pricing. This is not a parity claim—the useful question is which operating model your team can validate and sustain.

Automate and Nizlo optimize for different teams

Confirm the current ConnectWise quote, included services, hosting, implementation, contract, and add-ons in writing. Nizlo publishes its base plans, but the retained PSA, security, backup, documentation, and support stack still belongs in the total.

Operating modelDeep manual customization, granular policies, data views, roles, and workflows, with cloud or on-premises hosting options.Earlier-stage hosted RMM with a smaller operating surface and no claim of equivalent customization or ecosystem depth.
Endpoint scopeConnectWise says Automate primarily supports Windows endpoints and provides cross-platform remote-support coverage.Windows and macOS agents are available for managed deployment. Nizlo remains Windows-first; a Linux x64/ARM64 monitoring preview supports health, inventory, services, reviewed Bash jobs, and permission-gated terminal access. Linux remote desktop and patch management are not available yet.
Patching and automationWindows approval policies, deployment rings, maintenance windows, third-party patching, monitors, scripts, and large-scale remediation.Windows patch operations, scripts, reusable workflows, alerts, remote support, and reporting for a controlled small-team pilot.
Adjacent platformCertified ConnectWise PSA and ScreenConnect integrations, plus a mature marketplace and broader ConnectWise stack.RMM-first product with lighter ticketing and direct founding-pilot access; it is not a replacement for the complete ConnectWise ecosystem.

Automate is the stronger fit when

  • deep policy and monitor customization is a core operating requirement
  • on-premises hosting or the established ConnectWise ecosystem is required
  • your team can own a more configurable RMM and its ongoing administration
  • mature PSA, ScreenConnect, marketplace, and multi-site workflows outweigh public self-serve pricing

Nizlo may be worth testing when

  • a small Windows-first team wants a narrower pilot and a public monthly price
  • one technician manages enough endpoints that per-endpoint pricing is unattractive
  • a hosted, earlier-stage product is acceptable for one controlled endpoint first
  • direct product feedback and a no-card 14-day evaluation are useful

Run the same controlled pilot in both products

Test 1Inventory the same authorized Windows endpoints and reconcile hardware, software, services, users, and device identity.
Test 2Create the same service, disk, and resource conditions; compare detection, suppression, routing, and recovery evidence.
Test 3Pilot one Windows update ring and one supported third-party application; verify approvals, maintenance windows, exceptions, and reboot behavior.
Test 4Run the same harmless PowerShell maintenance task; compare targeting, review, output, cancellation, retries, and offline handling.
Test 5Open an authorized remote session and test technician roles, revocation, audit history, and the user-impact boundary.
Test 6Export the required operational evidence, remove the test agent, and prove that its identity and queued work can no longer act.
