Fathom ITSM alternative: pricing and RMM scope
Fathom presents a broad AI-native MSP platform with RMM, service desk, documentation, projects, billing, and more. Nizlo is an earlier-stage Windows-first RMM with a much narrower promise and lower paid entry price. They are not equivalent products.
The honest short version
Fathom belongs on the stronger shortlist when an MSP wants to consolidate far more than RMM, or when its permanent free tier covers the current fleet. Nizlo does not claim that breadth or a permanent free plan. Its narrower case is a small Windows-first team that already handles the business stack elsewhere and wants to test public flat-price RMM economics in a reversible pilot.
Pricing model
Fathom: Per technician. Fathom currently lists Core at $109, Growth at $185, and Enterprise at $299 per technician per month when billed annually.
Nizlo: Flat plan includes one technician and unlimited RMM endpoints; each additional technician is $15 per month.
Free entry point
Fathom: Fathom Free is listed as one technician, up to 50 devices, Core modules, unlimited requesters, and community support.
Nizlo: No permanent free plan is claimed. Core starts at $59 per month after the 14-day no-card trial.
Trial wording
Fathom: Official pages conflict: the pricing page says 30 days in several places, while the homepage and May 24 changelog say 14 days. Confirm the term shown at signup.
Nizlo: 14 days without a credit card; no automatic paid conversion.
Platform scope
Fathom: Fathom describes a broad MSP platform spanning RMM, service desk, documentation, projects, billing, CRM, vault, UEM, workflows, and AI, with plan differences.
Nizlo: Windows-first RMM with monitoring, patching, scripts, automation, remote support, reporting, and a ticketing foundation; no claim of Fathom-level PSA, documentation, vault, CRM, or project parity.
Endpoint platforms
Fathom: The current pricing page describes RMM monitoring, patching, scripting, and remote access for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Nizlo: Windows and macOS agents are available for managed deployment. Linux x64 and ARM64 monitoring is a private preview; Linux patching and remote desktop are not currently claimed.
Deployment model
Fathom: Hosted service plus a documented AGPL-3.0 self-host path. Fathom says self-hosting uses the same core product with infrastructure and some enterprise-feature boundaries retained by the operator.
Nizlo: Nizlo is a managed cloud service. No customer self-hosted edition is currently offered.
One- and three-technician cost examples
Published base subscription prices before tax, discounts, migration, infrastructure, external tools, or optional services. These compare bills—not capability equivalence.
Fathom is the stronger shortlist when
One product should cover the broader MSP operation
- service desk, documentation, projects, billing, CRM, or a credentials vault should live beside RMM
- a permanent one-technician, 50-device free tier fits the current fleet
- Windows, macOS, and Linux RMM coverage is required now
- self-hosting and accepting the related operating responsibility are important
Nizlo may be worth testing when
The immediate need is focused Windows-first RMM
- the surrounding PSA, documentation, billing, and project workflow already lives elsewhere
- a lower paid entry price and low-cost additional technicians fit the team
- one controlled endpoint can prove monitoring, patching, scripts, and remote support first
- an earlier product and direct roadmap influence are acceptable
Run the same controlled pilot
Start with authorized lab or noncritical systems, define expected results, preserve evidence, and include every broader workflow that changes the complete operating cost.
